7 Apps To Curb Boredom During The Lockdown
7. Twitch.tv
Twich.tv is a well-known platform in the gaming community. The Twitch app provides free live-streamed content. The content is usually gaming-oriented and the host is there to play the game and commentate as they go. Some struggle to see the appeal of watching someone else play a game but for me, it’s endless entertainment as many of the hosts are high energy and/or masters at the games they are playing.
Twitch has a very large user base with thousands of streamers to watch.
6. Tik Tok
Although this isn’t really up my alley I can see the appeal. Tik Tok is an app which has skyrocketed to the top of the charts in the last year and a bit. Tik Tok allows users to mime or sing along to endless videos and templates. I’m sure you’ve seen these videos on other social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
Tik Tok in my eyes is a great way to entertain you and your quarantine buddies. If this sounds like something you would be into we highly suggest having a go.
5. Instagram
If you don’t already have this app it’s a great way to sink time. During my first week of quarantine, I found myself out walking more often than I usually would. When you have the time to take some great photos why not add it to your arsenal of boredom killers.
Instagram is an app-based around photos and videos. Whether it be a portrait, landscape or any other type of photography Instagram has the tools to take your images to a whole different level. With the built-in image editor, you are able to manipulate and filter to your heart’s content. Lots of fun seeing your friends and family enjoying something you’ve created.
4. Duolingo
Duolingo is a free (with paid options) app that is based around learning new languages. If you have ever thought about learning a new language, which I’m sure many of you have, this is the app for you. The app has a fun and interactive interface which means it doesn’t get repetitive or boring.
Duolingo has many languages to learn from which could be good for your travels after flight restrictions are lifted. The time is now if you are looking to upskill. Asombroso!
3. Call of Duty: Mobile
For the gamers reading this list I’m sure you have heard of this app. If you aren’t able to game on a big gaming rig this will be the perfect high-intensity gaming experience you are after. The game includes your standard FPS (First Person Shooter) suite of game modes. Battle Royale, Team Deathmatch, Search and Destroy and others.
You can quite easily sink many hours into this game a day. Just make sure to have a charger nearby as you don’t want to be prematurely disconnected. It’s a large game file but worth every byte.
2. SkillShare
Skillshare, as the name suggests, is a platform that allows users to learn from a variety of topics. Though the courses are not accredited, the platform has made a name for itself in the online learning community. Some of the courses provided by skillshare include Animation, Design, Photo and Film, Business and many more.
With all this time on our hands, it’s a good idea to eat healthy, exercise and even learn. What are you waiting for?
1. House Party
Houseparty is a social media app released on the 25th of April 2019 that focuses on bringing people together. According to Wikipedia the users of the app spend an average of around 1 hour a day in voice/video chats. The app includes some well-known games that users can play with each other. Some multiplayer games included in this app include ‘Heads Up!’, ‘Trivia’, ‘Chips and Guac’ and ‘Quick Draw!’.
The app has spiked in popularity since the world saw a toppling of dominos in terms of large scale lockdowns. This app is for all ages and it works well if you are feeling disconnected from your friends and family. I have personally been using the app for around one week and it’s great for a quick chat or a full-blown conversation. As number 1 on our list, we highly recommend downloading and connecting with your close ones in this tough time.
We hope you enjoyed our list. There will likely be more lists coming in the next days and weeks. Send us an email with what list you would like to see next.
