How To Fix An iPhone That’s Not Charging
Your iPhone is part of your daily life, so it can be a real inconvenience when it stops charging. Here are some simple fixes to common reasons why your iPhone might not be charging.
1. Check Your Charging Cable
A faulty cable is often the problem. Make sure that the cable is not damaged and that the adapter is plugged in securely. You can also try using a different cable or adapter to see if that fixes the problem.
2. Clean the Charging Port
Dust and debris can often build up in the charging port, preventing a good connection between the charging port and the cable. You can try very carefully using a toothpick to get some of the debris out, however doing this incorrectly can permanently damage the phone. Bring it into either of our stores for a professional (and safe!) clean and inspection.
3. Restart your iPhone
Sometimes the simplest solution is the most effective. A restart can fix minor software issues that may be preventing your iPhone from charging.
4. Update your iPhone’s Software
Apple releases regular software updates to fix bugs and improve iPhone performance. Updating your phones software would fix any potential software issues that are stopping your phone from charging. To check for a software update go Settings > General > Software Update.
5. Restore your iPhone to factory settings
If all else fails, you may need to restore it to factory settings. A factory reset erases all of your data, so it is a much better idea to bring it into a professional to diagnose the problem before doing this. To restore your iPhone go Settings > General > Transfer or Reset, then confirm.
If you have tried all of these without success, we can help.
Book a Diagnostic, or bring your iPhone into our Parnell or Ponsonby store. We’ll take it from there.
