Common Issues with MacBook
Buying best MacBook out of available ones, maintaining these expensive devices and then addressing issues, from common to complex, can cost us higher than our expectations. There could be long research on what MacBook to buy, what specifications has to be there and how to maintain the health of the Mac devices.
Although there are some very simple and must try solutions when we encounter some simple error or issues with Mac devices. But it’s advisable to take help from an expert with critical problems. Lets try and understand some simple problems:
1. Black screen/ No Display:
Turn your device off first. This is the simplest and must try solution to this problem. One of the reasons could be : frozen screen because we tried to use a particular software or application which can slow down the speed of the processor resulting in black screen.
Solutions could be:
First: press and hold the power button for 10-12 seconds. This will turn off the device, if it wasn’t earlier and then we can turn it on again.
Second: Try disconnecting the battery and drain the static charge. For this press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Connect the battery and charger, try turning the Mac on.
Or try to boot your MacBook in Safe Mode, run the diagnostics to find the issue as follows:
Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears. Select a volume. Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode. The computer restarts automatically.
There could be other reasons too as MacOS failure, other hardware problems as battery not charging or in worst case motherboard stopped working.

2. Charging / Slow Charging :
Charging issues could be related to slow charging or not charging at all. This further is related to charging port to make sure it’s not damaged.
Solution for this is : Check battery cycle count to know if MacBook needs a new battery. To check the battery count please refer to the fig.
Secondly, make sure the charger is performing well.
If none of the above works, visit your nearest MacBook repair shop.
3. Mac Spinning Beach Ball / Slow MacBook:
Too many heavy application running in parallel can cause slowdown to processor.
To check how many processes are running and how much memory is consumed by each of the process we can see Activity Monitor as shown in image.
Too full of a hard disk/SSD can be one of the reasons too. Clean your storage by taking Backup of your old data onto some external storage device.
There could be other reasons too as overheating of processor caused by high ambient temperature, blocked fans, malicious programs or applications or unresponsive apps. For hardware issues take expert advice by visiting a Mac repair centre.
4. Screen Flickering:
Apple stands out in its ravishing display features from all other devices available in the market. However, flickering issues are one of the most reported problems nowadays.
Physical damage can cause screen flickering. In this case, screen replacement is the only solution. Check out the professional services in your area with best quality spare-parts.
Other reasons could be software glitches or power related issues.
Several minor issues pop up while using the MacBook. These need to be addressed minutely and with care. However, it is always recommended not to imply self-mastery in fixing it. Connect with some reliable source or visit your nearest service centre.
