5 reasons to choose M2 over M1
M1 and M2, both are systems on Chip(SOC) processors by Apple. M2 was Launched in 2022, And is an evolution to M1.
There are currently four versions of the M1 (M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max, and M1 Ultra) and only three versions of the M2 (M2, M2 Pro, and M2 Max).
These are the devices available with M1 and M2 Chips.

1. Cpu Performance:
M2 Apple devices has an edge over M1 in terms of the CPU performance. M2 has got Cpu cores known as Avalanche and Blizzard giving it an 18%boost in Multithreading as compared to M1.
Another difference lies in 16MB Level 2 Cache against 12MB in M1. Higher cache gives the more ability to store huge amounts of most used data.
2. GPU Performance:
M2 has 2 more GPU cores as compared to M1 and gives a boost of 35% while at maximum power.

3. Media Engine: M1 could support media engine of 4K while M2 engine media can support encoding and decoding upto 8K Streams.
4. Neural Engine: M2 Processor has the capacity to process upto 15.8 trillion operations/second which is 40%more than M1.
5. Memory: M2 supports extra 24Gb unified memory configuration in addition to 8Gb and 16Gb against M1. If we compare Bandwidth , M2 has 100GB/Sec against M1 having bandwidth of 68.25GB/sec.
Overall, M2 Macbooks offer improved and updated cores with additional GPU cores, higher bandwidth for video decoding and editing with larger cache memory, supporting multitasking.
