Apple is probably the most secretive of mobile phone manufacturers in an industry based largely on secrecy. But despite their secrecy, the rumours, supposed leaks and inside contacts within china’s supply network has become better and better at leaking all the details with near perfect accuracy well ahead of device launches. So there is no surprise, that all of the rumours are looking to predict an early September launch event for Apple’s next models of iPhone. It also appears there isn’t going to be an upgrade to the iPhone 7 just yet. Instead, we are getting Apples usual habit of an upgraded S model.
If we go on previous phone S model releases, we can expect the same overall design with some upgrades to small features. A more powerful processor, extended battery, upgrades to the camera and faster LTE chip. New rumoured features include a 12 mega pixel camera with 4K video capture, a new tougher back housing the can withstand bending and force touch.
The camera is rumoured to use a 2-lens system that can take DSLR quality images. There are things suggesting there will be some type of wireless charging function, force touch looks to be added like on the apple watch. Where applying extra pressure to the screen brings up additional options and menus, let’s you drop pins on the Maps app, pressure sensitive scrolling on web browsers and media players.
One of the biggest features of every iPhone upgrade is the CPU. Known as the A-series chip, it is a chip designed in part by Apple to enable all the parts of the iPhone’s hardware and software to work better together. The chip destined for the next iPhone is the A9, and it’s rumoured to be a pretty powerful processor chip.
Rumours around that Apple has once again swallowed its pride and employed Samsung to manufacture its A9 chip, as Samsung are ahead of the game and have literally spent billions in the last 12 months on chip technology. The chips will be smaller and they will consume less power while providing more processer power. The smaller size of the chips means more transistors can fit on the logic board, so in theory the A9 chip shouldn’t drain your battery as fast as the iPhone 6 A8 chip does. It should allow for the camera to record 4K video without any hiccups, lag or frame skipping. This chip could be potentially almost as powerful as the new 12 inch MacBook with retina display.
We might also look forward to an upgraded Touch ID/Home button to reduce errors and give the user an overall more reliable experience.
Furthermore rumours and photos are flying around websites of an iPhone 6c. It is said to have a lot of the features of the 6s. With an 8 Mega Pixel camera and a better, longer lasting battery. With the addition of touch ID. The screen seems to be alot smaller than that of the 6s, coming in at 4 inches. If this is true then this will provide a much cheaper option to that of the 6s, which we all know on release, will cost an arm and a leg.
If all of these rumours turn out to be true. Then this new iPhone 6s is going to take the smartphone market to a new level, competitors are going to be well behind and will need to come up with new ideas and technology to even come close to outselling apple.
