On the 9th September the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus were released. They have now hit our shores and are available in New Zealand. Lets have a look at the features and see if they are worth upgrading from the iPhone 6. Lets start with the biggest feature, 3D touch or force touch. This feature gives you more options with apps and programs. A light touch is called a “peek “ and a harder touch a “pop”. For example, viewing emails you can preview messages without having to open them. It may not sound like a biggy but it can save time for the busy businessman with filtering out the stuff they need to read.
Next is the camera, upgraded from 8 mega pixels to 12 mega pixels. Not only is the camera high res but it can support 4k video and has a very much improved auto focus function that can automatically pick up the object you want to focus on, and sharpen it against the background adding more depth to your photo. The iPhone 6 camera was only able to sharpen the entire screen.
The iPhone 6s has twice the amount of RAM over the iPhone 6, which makes lagging a thing of the past. The A9 chip is above any other chip available in a smartphone and will be hard to beat anytime soon. The only downer so far about the iPhone 6s is the battery life. It still dies fast and at times will die quicker than older phones. But I guess with all this extra stuff the phone has inside of it it was always going to be a struggle. I asked one of my close friends who is fortunate enough to own one of these bad boys a few questions about how the phone is treating her, as well how the phone caters to her needs as a tattoo artist.
What model of the new iPhone do you have? And why did you choose it?
I chose the iPhone 6s Plus. I chose this for the larger display so I can view tattoo deisgns and references In more detail.
Compared to other phones you have owned, what do you think is better overall?
Before the 6s I had a iPhone 5s and a Sony Xperia Z3. The 6s is far superior. It is so simple to use and doesn’t have all this android nonsense I still to this day cant figure out on my Sony.
How fast is the phone?
Unbelievibly fast. Like literally no waiting times or freezing at all
Is the Force touch handy? Or could you live without it?
Im still getting used to it, but I could live without it. It’s a cool idea but not really for me.
Does the camera help you in your line of work?
This is the main reason I bought this phone apart from the large display. The camera is so high definition, its great.
Anything you don’t like or wish to see in a future update or handset?
I cant really think of to many things, maybe the battery life. It doesn’t last as long as my 5s did.
A rating out of 10, what would you rate the phone
I would give the phone a 8.5/10
